What Is a Seer?

SEER

SEER (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio) is a ratio of the amount of cooling produced (BTU) divided by the amount of electricity (watts) used. In layman’s terms, a SEER rating is an efficiency marker. The higher the SEER rating the more efficient the system operates which results in less energy consumption and a savings on your power bill.

What Is a Merv?

MERV

MERV (Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value) was developed by the American Society of Heating and Air Conditioner Engineers. Essentially, the higher the MERV rating the more efficient the filter will be in trapping airborne particles.

What is a Ton?

Air Conditioning Systems are measured by tons. A ton is the cooling capacity of an air conditioning system. One ton is equal to the amount of heat required to melt one tone of ice in a 24 hour period. We know you aren’t trying to melt the ice so we recommend letting our Area Managers assess your current system and the layout of your home among other factors to determine the proper tonnage for your home.
